Abe Gingerich

ABE L. GINGERICH, 91, of rural Arcola, IL passed away 8:26 P.M. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Raymond B. Miller residence, 465 E CR 400 N, North of Chesterville, IL. Bishop Jacob Stutzman will officiate. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery in rural Arcola, IL. Visitation will be any time before the funeral at the Raymond B. Miller residence. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mr. Gingerich was born on August 2, 1922 in Wolford, North Dakota He was a son of John C. and Leah (Wagler) Gingerich. He married Sarah A. Mast on December 19, 1946 in Arthur, IL. She passed away on May 7, 2006.

He is survived by five sons, Paul Joseph Gingerich and his wife Ann of Arthur, IL, Jerry Gingerich and his wife Judith of Goodletsville, TN, Loyd Abraham and his wife Judith of Arcola, IL, Philip Wayne Gingerich and his wife Lisa of Arthur, IL and John Andrew Gingerich and his wife Marilyn of Arthur, IL; six daughters, Lydia Ellen Miller and her husband Perry of Lawrenceburg, TN, Lucy Helen Yoder and her husband Andy B. of Garnett, KS, Leah Mae Yoder and her husband Marvin of Mattoon, IL, Wilma Borkholder and her husband Mervin of Bloomington, IL, Anna Viola Gingerich and her husband Freeman of Arcola, IL and Rhoda Marie Rocke and her husband Daniel of Arcola, IL; two sisters, Anna Mae Gingerich of Arthur, IL and Fannie Marie Hochstedler of Bloomfield, IA; five sisters-in-law, Sara Gingerich of Dover, DE, Annie Gingerich of Bloomfield, IA, Fannie Gingerich of Sullivan, IL, Ruth Gingerich of Arthur, IL and Sovilla Gingerich of Arthur, IL; forty-seven grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gingerich was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one stillborn son, one grandson, Reuben Rocke, one daughter-in-law, nine brothers, Rufus, Aaron, Ezra, William, Amos, John Jr, Eli, Jacob and Benjamin, four sisters, Magdalena Graber, Elizabeth Stutzman, Katherine Miller and Rhoda Rebecca Gingerich.

He was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith.
