Biography

AGNES L. VOLTENBURG, 90, of Chesterville, IL passed away at 10:50 P.M. on Thursday January 24, 2013 at the Arthur Home, in Arthur, IL.

Funeral Services will be held on at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Vince Rohn will officiate. Burial will be held in the Chesterville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.

Agnes was born on August 19, 1922 in Chesterville, IL. She was a daughter of Adam and Bessie (Campbell) Scott. She married Morris Floyd Voltenburg on December 15, 1940 in Arcola, IL. He died on September 3, 1994

She is survived by one brother, Eugene Shambarger and his wife Doris of Arcola, IL; one sister, Helen Staebler of Miland, MI and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, two brothers, Hiram and Orville Scott and two sisters, one that was stillborn and Gladys Turner.

Agnes was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL where she taught Sunday School to children in the nursery for 25 years. She also participated in the Christian Women’s Fellowship at the church and served as President for three years.

She wrote the “Chesterville News” a column that ran in the Arcola Record Herald and Arthur Graphic news papers for several years.

Agnes was a very special lady who enjoyed taking care of her husband, children and her cats.
