Albert A. Beachy, 84, of Arcola, IL passed away at 2:05 AM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 477 IL US Route 133, Arcola, IL. Pastor Aaron Boothe will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Mennonite Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Albert was born on May 29, 1940 in Arthur, IL. He was a son of Andrew S. and Esther J. (Stutzman) Beachy. He married Ivy Lee on October 24, 1964 in Dover, DE. She passed away on May 26, 2018.
He is survived by his daughter, Gladys Smith and her husband Brent of Lake Charles, LA, two sons, CMSgt Duane Beachy, retired, and his wife Shelley of Crestview, FL, and Mark Beachy of Arcola, IL, seven grandchildren, Joshua Smith and his wife Nicole of LA, Joline Kreh and her husband Ryan of FL, Tiffaney Beachy of UT, Heidi Beachy of UT, Meaghan Fusselman and her husband David of WY, Ian Beachy of FL, and Joel Beachy of FL, four great grandchildren, Dillon Smith, Makenzie Smith, Randolph Kreh and Albert Kreh, two brothers, Levi A. Beachy and his wife Anna of Arthur, IL, Abraham A. Beachy of Goshen, IN and two sisters, Verna Coleman of Decatur, IL and Martha Robinson of Arthur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ivy Beachy, three brothers, John Beachy, Edward Beachy and Daniel Beachy, and one sister, Sovilla Lee.
Albert was a member of the Walnut Grove Christian Church.
Albert worked as a maintenance man at a Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis before he married in 1964. He then worked as a diesel mechanic/shop foreman for Helmuth Implement in Arcola, IL and HSW Equipment in Bement before retiring in 1997. Albert owned and operated Beachy’s Ice Company for 54 years with his brother John and his son Mark. He served as a Civil Defense Member in Arcola.
Albert loved Westerns, ice cream, the Indy 500 and he always had to follow the weather. His grandkids and great grandkids were his passion, and they could always make him laugh.
Memorials may be made to Walnut Grove Christian Church.
