Albert Veach

ALBERT VEACH, 78, of Arcola, IL passed away at 6:15 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL.

Albert was born February 15, 1930 in Woodriver, IL. He was a son of George H. and Alice M. (Dwyer) Veach. He married Joan Spaulding March 23, 1952 in Woodriver, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joan Veach of Arcola, IL; three children, Cozette DeVirgilio and her husband, James of North Tonawanda, NY, Stephen and his wife, Grace Veach of Lakeland, FL; and Micheala Brown and her husband, Davis of South Port, NC; six grandchildren, Dana, Jessica, Megan, Stephanie, Christopher and Vincent; one great-grandchild, Aiden; one sister, Rosa Lane and one brother, Gerald Veach and his wife, Rebecca and numerous nieces and nephews.

His parents, one brother George Veach and one sister Ilah Clark preceded him in death.

Albert was a Korean War veteran and retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He later retired from Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company with 20 years of service.

Albert was a member of the Arcola First Christian Church and a member of the Coles County Barbershop Choral. He was on the Arcola Library District Board and volunteered in the first and second grades at the Arcola Grade School. Al enjoyed motorcycling and spending time at the YMCA of Mattoon where he was a member.
