Allen Navel

ALLEN NAVEL, 73, of Arthur, IL passed away at 1:53 A.M. on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Rev. Ivan Jess will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home on Friday, December 28, 2012.

Allen was born on December 3, 1939 in Tuscola, IL. He was a son of Leroy Otis and Geneva Ruth (Dallas) Navel. He married Nancy Marie Grant on May 29, 1959 in Arthur, IL.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Navel of Arthur, IL, two daughters, Penny Price and her husband Tim of Ogden, IL and Christie McDonald and her husband Dave of Mattoon, IL; five grandchildren, Danille, Nathaniel and Lindsay and Melissa and Travis; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Geneva Navel of Tuscola, IL and four sisters, Joyce Enyart and her husband Dean of Arthur, IL, Ruth Ann Navel of Tuscola, IL, Judy Upright and her husband Jim of Oklahoma City, OK and Kathy Terril and her husband John of Atwood, IL.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Leroy and one brother, Dale Navel.

Allen served in the Navel Reserves. He was a member of the Bourbon Baptist Church.

He worked as a supervisor at Schrock Cabinet Factory in Arthur, IL; he retired from there with over 25 years of service.

Allen enjoyed woodworking and crafts, camping and was a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club. He enjoyed photography and collected cameras and he was an avid reader.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren.
