ANDREW F. BONTREGER, 85, of Arcola, IL passed away at 12:05 P.M. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Otto Center in rural Arthur, IL. Bishop David Otto will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery, rural Arthur, IL. Visitation will be anytime after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Otto Center in rural Arthur, IL. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Andy was born August 9, 1923 in Douglas County, IL. He was a son of Fred and Lydia (Miller) Bontreger. He married Minerva Yutzy on August 31, 1944 in Douglas County, IL. They lived in matrimony for 64 years.

Survivors include his wife Minerva Bontreger of Arcola, IL; one son Toby Bontreger of
Arthur, IL; seven daughters, Verna Otto and her husband Lewis of Arthur, IL, Rosie Bontrager and her husband Howard of Goshen, IN, Lucy Chupp and her husband Olen of Arthur, IL, Mary Whitley of Atwood, IL, Lorene Helmuth and her husband Darrell of Arthur, IL, Julie Yoder and her husband Joseph of Arcola, IL and Rose Anna Bontreger of Arthur, IL; one brother Clarence Bontreger and one sister Mary Ann Welsh, both of Arthur, IL; 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Willis Bontreger, one daughter, Dorothy Mast, and son-in-law Lynn Mast, three grandchildren, Tony Bontreger, Inez Bontrager, and Nichole Whitley, six brothers, Joseph, Eli, Jonas, Alvin, Jake and Mose Bontreger, and two sisters, Martha Joyce and Tillie Borntreger.

Andy was a member of the old order Amish. He was farmer all his life and had a real passion for a good horse he especially enjoyed a good laugh while sharing a fun memory.
