ART “BEECHER” KEY, 80, of Humboldt, IL passed away at 1:10 P.M. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Edwards funeral Home. Rev. Robert Clark will officiate. Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
Art was born on March 22, 1934 in Douglas County, IL. He was a son of Charles H. and Minnie M. (Lawrence) Key. He married Judy L. Stevens on November 7, 1954 in Humboldt, IL.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Humboldt, IL, one daughter Shawn Key of Panama City, FL; two brothers, Charles Key and his wife Norma of Las Cruces, NM and Richard Key and his wife Patricia of Arcola, IL; two sisters, Wilma Price and Charlotte Simpson both of Mattoon, IL.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl and Frank Key; three sisters, Roberta Chambers, Ida Mae Laymon and Norma Schrieb and his mother and father-in-law, Wayne (Bub) and Ruth Stevens.
Art retired from Progress Industries of Arthur, IL in 1996 with over 41 years of service. After he retired he enjoyed woodworking but spent much of his time repairing lawn mowers.
