BARBARA J. CONLIN, 76 of Arthur, IL passed away at 11:06 P.M. on Monday February 27, 2012 at the Arthur Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL. Father Barry Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL. A Rosary Service will be held prior to visitation at the Church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Barbara was born on July 2, 1935 in Arthur. She was the daughter of Charles and Cathrine (Houts) VonLanken. She married Robert Conlin on June 5, 1954 in Arthur. He survives. Also surviving are five children, Patricia Yoder and her husband Larry of Sullivan, IL, Robert Conlin Jr. and his wife Donna of Canton, MI, John Conlin of Venice, FL, Alan Conlin and his wife Deonaha of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael Conlin and his wife Vickie of Champaign, IL. Also surviving are six grandchildren Greg Yoder and his wife Jennifer of Sullivan, Eric Yoder of New York City, NY, Adam Yoder and his wife Alison of Tolono, IL, Curtis Yoder of Sullivan, IL, Cody Drew Conlin of Venice, FL and Andrew Michael Conlin of Champaign, IL; one great-grandson, Noah Robert Yoder; one sister-in-law Vivian Woll of East Alton, IL and a brother-in-law John Al Conlin of Chula Vista, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Betty Scarlett.
Barbara was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society and played the organ for many years. She was a member of the Arthur Women’s Club and the Red Hat Ladies. She worked in civil service in the 1950s and later at the Arthur Grade School as a Librarian and at Delbert’s in Arthur.
Barbara enjoyed gardening and flowers of all kinds. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed quilting, serving her church and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and most recently her great-grandson.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcola or Lincolnland Hospice.
