BERNIE STABLER, 70, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 1:20 P.M. Sunday, September 18, 2011 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Bill Miller will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Bernie was born August 22, 1941 in Tuscola, IL. He was a son of Oscar and Geneva Barnett Stabler. He married Linda Conner March 16, 1996 in Tuscola, IL.
Survivors include his wife Linda Stabler of Tuscola, IL; 2 sons Brian and Brad Stabler both of Villa Grove, IL; stepchildren Cindy Schroeder and her husband Curt of Carollton, GA, Bill Miller and his wife Michele of Washington, IN and Jody Kelley and her husband Patrick of Pomona, MO; 3 brothers Max Stabler of Springfield, IL, Larry Stabler and his wife Carol of Fredricksburg, VA, and Ronnie Stabler of Tuscola, IL; and 4 sisters Joan Frasig and her husband Norm of Ridgecrest, CA, Helen Stabler of St. Louis, MO, Judy Cler and her husband Kenny of Camargo, IL and Linda Hamilton of St. Louis, MO; and 9 grandchilren.
His parents, 1 daughter Brandy Miller; two brothers John and Robert Stabler and one sister Rita Payton preceded him in death.
Bernie was a member of the Moose in Tuscola, IL.
Bernie was an Iron Worker for 42 years working out of the Local 380 Iron Workers Union in Urbana, IL. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
