Betty Nicholas

BETTY JUNE NICHOLAS, 90, of Tuscola, IL, formerly of Mahomet, IL, passed away at 8:10 A.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL. President William Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery in Champaign, IL. Visitation will be held before the funeral services from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Betty was born July 28, 1921 in Farmer City, IL. She was a daughter of Charles Henry Beery and Betty Ruth (Pittman) Beery. She married Lyle Everett Nicholas on August 16, 1940 in Farmer City. He passed away July 15, 2003.

Survivors include 2 sons Jospeh C. Nicholas and his wife Elaine of Urbana, IL, Paul J. Nicholas and his wife Mindy of Winter Park, FL; 3 daughters Sherron F. Moomaw and her late husband Robert of Arcola, IL, Colleen A. Arendtsen of Salt Lake City, UT, Melissa J. Witzel and her husband Merill of Chesapeake, VA; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother Dean Beery, and 1 great-granddaughter Macayla Ann Moomaw.

Betty was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

After raising her children, Betty obtained her nursing degree at the age of 52. She enjoyed working at Carle Hospital for 12 years. Betty especially loved camping, genealogy, and family videos.
