Bill Shields

Bill Shields, 52, of Mattoon, IL formerly of Springfield, MO passed away at 12:23 A.M. on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

At the family request, no services will be held.

Bill was born on December 13, 1967 in Mattoon, IL.  He was a son of Larry Daniel and Jessie (Brown) Shields.

He is survived by four children, Brandon Buddy Lee Shields, Rebecca Shields, Nicholas Shields and Tabby Shields, seven grandchildren, Jerimiah, Morgan, Nuala, Rebecca, Jaden, Isaac and Harlen, two step-children, T.J. Skinner and Zach Skinner, his father, Larry Shields and his wife Pat of Cincinnati, OH, sister, Lisa Askew and her husband Brian of Mattoon, IL, a step-brother, Lee Shields, niece, Ashley Askew and her children, Damien Askew and Araelynn Sharp, and nephew, Brandon Askew.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Brown, one stepson, Berek Skinner and a granddaughter, Jaedah Leeann Shields.

Bill enjoyed working on cars, doing things with his hands, he had been an auto mechanic most of his life and he loved to fish.

He was a loving father and over all a loving person.  He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO.
