Caleb Wood

CALEB WOOD, 99, of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Arcola Health Care Center in Arcola, IL.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Dale Tomas officiated. Burial was held in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation was one hour before the funeral on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the funeral home.

Caleb was born on January 15, 1911 in Tompkinsville, KY. He was the son of Jess and Dory Wood. He married Hazel Hale in 1940 in Tompkinsville, KY.

He is survived by his wife Hazel of Arcola; three daughters, Wanda Casteel and her husband Kenny of Arcola, Jadie Wood of Mattoon, IL, Peggy Allen and her husband Leonard “Gene” of Arcola; two sons, Stanley Woods of Arcola, IL and Larry Wood and his wife Robin of Arcola, IL; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Omis Wood of Louisville, KY, and one sister, Eva Schriker of IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Caleb was a farmer in the Arcola area for several years.
