CARL F. SUDING, 85, of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:16 P.M. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Father Delix Michel will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 5:30 P.M. prior to the visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
Carl was born on September 25, 1928 in Batesville, IN. He was the son of Carl H. and Loretta A. (Buenke) Suding. He married Loretta Loechle on June 10, 1950 in Batesville, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Suding of Arcola, IL, eight children, James F. Suding and his wife Cathleen of Lakeland, FL, Karla Biltz and her husband David of Batesville, IN, Sharon Kelsey of Berrien Springs, MI, Dale E. Suding of Arcola, IL, Steve J. Suding of Arcola, IL Bernie A. Suding and his wife Cathy of Sullivan, IL, William M. Suding and his wife Rena of Atwood, IL and Amy Anderson and her fiancé Jeff Bachman of Arcola, IL; twelve grandchildren, Daniel J. Suding and Jamie Simpson, Edward Biltz, Stephanie Kelsey, Lindsey Suding, Nicholas Suding, Erin Kiger and Lesley Fleming, Michael Howell, Victoria and Wyatt Suding, and Kimberly Bachman; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Lou Weiler and her husband Albert of Cape Coral, FL.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law Gus Kelsey.
Carl was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola, IL, the Moose in Tuscola, IL and Mattoon, IL and the Eagles in Batesville, IN. He was the assistant fire chief for the Batesville Volunteer Fire Department in Batesville, IN prior to moving to Arcola, IL in 1973.
Carl was a welder and machinist supervisor for many years. He retired as head custodian for the Arcola School District and then worked part-time as a machinist for JER Overhaul in Arcola, IL.
Carl enjoyed camping, fishing, being outdoors, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
