Carlos "Shorty" Lopez

Carlos "Shorty" Lopez, 60 of Arcola, IL passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on November 16, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Carlos’ life will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Arcola Community Center, 107 West Main St., Arcola. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Carlos was born on September 15, 1964 in Tenacingo, Mexico. He was a son of Arnulfo and Heriberta (Juarez) Lopez. He married Kimmie Sue Corral on September 28, 2024 in Arcola, IL.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Kimmie of Arcola, IL, son, Adam Corral of Arcola, IL, two daughters, Katie Lopez of Charleston, IL and Jennifer Lopez Craig and her husband Mason of Villa Grove, IL, five grandchildren, Savannah, Aiden, Lillian, Nevaeh and Nash, and Baby Noah on the way, seven siblings, Romana Lopez Juarez, Juana Lopez Juarez, Rosalba Lopez Juarez, Veronica Lopez Juarez, Gertrudis Lopez Juarez and Jesus Felipe Lopez Juarez.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. 

Carlos attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mattoon, IL. 

Carlos had worked at Farly’s Candy Factory in Chicago, IL in the late 1990’s, where he met his wife. They moved to Mattoon, IL in 1998 and Carlos took a job Master Brand in Arthur, IL building cabinets for the past 26 years, they have lived in Arcola, IL for the past 21 years. 

Carlos enjoyed being outside, gardening, and going to Lake Charleston, Sullivan Beach and Fox Ridge, anywhere he could spend time outdoors with his family. 

He took great pride in providing for his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to go shopping with the grandkids so he could spoil them.
