Carol Russell

CAROL VIRGINIA RUSSELL, 74, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 5:30 P.M. on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Carol was born on June 27, 1933 in Blue Mound, IL. She was a daughter of Samuel Curtis and Emma Paula Clara (Ficker) Rush. She married Robert Russell on October 22, 1949 in Decatur, IL.

Survivors include her husband Robert D. Russell of Mt. Zion, IL; one son, Jeffrey Robert Russell and his wife Gloria of Decatur, IL; two daughters, Marsha Jo Allen and her husband Paul of Vero Beach, FL and Marla Kaye Chase and her husband Scott of Dover, Delaware; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Paula Burkhart and her husband Donald of Taylorville, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Curtis and Emma Paula Rush Cryer; two sisters, Mary Alice Irwin and Norma Mae Wellwood; one brother, Cecil Dale Rush and two granddaughters, Amber Jo and Karri Ann.

Carol attended Blue Mound High School. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Decatur, IL where she was an usher and a member of Life Builders. Carol was the advertising manager for Montgomery Wards. She was also the head cashier for Tolly's and Sav-A-Lot. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, crocheting and cooking for her friends and family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
