Carolyn Miller

Carolyn (Hochstetler) Miller, 62 of Arthur, IL passed away at 4:25 PM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Arthur Christian School, 1637 State Route 133, Arthur, IL. Pastor Matthew Bontrager will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 1, 2024, all at the school. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Carolyn was born on July 19, 1962, in Goshen, IN. She was the daughter of Joseph J. and Mary (Glick) Hochstetler. She married Allen Duane Miller on May 29, 1982, in Middlebury, IN.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Miller of Arthur, IL, seven children, Vanessa Miller of Atwood, IL, and her boyfriend John Helmuth of New Philadelphia, OH, daughter-in-law, Carmel Miller of Arthur, IL, Javan Miller and his wife Elizabeth of Ontario, Canada, Valerie Miller and her husband Cameron of Arthur, IL, Kyle Miller and his wife Raquel of Sarasota, FL, Austin Miller and his wife Rosa of Ephrata, PA, Clinton Miller and his girlfriend Jaydin of Wasilla, AK, and Preston Miller of New Holland, PA, 15 grandchildren, seven siblings, Barbara Mast and her husband Laban of Goshen, IN, Marvin Hochstetler and his wife Arlene of Topeka, IN, Maynard Hochstetler and his wife Laura of Middlebury, IN, Linda Yoder and her husband Marvin of Dade City, FL, Treva Bauman and her husband Aaron of Muddy Pond, TN, Irene Marner and her husband Daniel of White Pigeon, MI, and Fern Bauman and her husband Gordon of Goshen, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Reggie Allen Miller and one infant sister, Joanna Hochstetler.

Carolyn was a member of the Pleasant View Church in Arcola, IL.

When she graduated, Carolyn was Valedictorian of her class in 1981 from Clinton Christian School in Goshen, IN.

Following her marriage to Allen, they spent 17 years as missionaries in Ontario, Canada.

Music was Carolyn’s passion, and she enjoyed playing the guitar, hammer dulcimer, lap harp, and piano. She also enjoyed oil painting, arranging flowers, and photography, specifically for weddings.

Her love for the Lord is something she did her best to pass along to her children and grandchildren and the students that she taught. She taught for 28 years, Arthur Mennonite School, now currently Arthur Christian, Pleasant View, and homeschooling her own children.
