Carrie Herschberger

CARRIE C. HERSCHBERGER, 85, of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:35 P.M. on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at her residence in rural Arcola, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola, IL. Bishop Howard Kuhns will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at the church. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola, IL and from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. Herschberger was born on July 7, 1925 in St. Joseph County, Michigan. She was a daughter of Christian and Lovina (Kauffman) Bontrager. She married Levi J. Herschberger on September 13, 1945 in Arthur, IL. He passed away on October 2, 1991.

Survivors include one daughter, Verna Helmuth and her husband Ray of Arthur, IL; two sons, Elva Herschberger and his wife Shirley of Arthur, IL and Ira Herschberger and his wife Marjorie of Arcola, IL; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Melvin Bontrager of Kokomo, IN, Raymond Bontrager and his wife Ella of Sullivan, IL, William Bontrager and his wife Fannie of Millersburg, OH, Irvin Bontrager and his wife Mary of Shipshewana, IN and Sam Bontrager and his wife Pam of Purdin, MO and eight sisters, Fannie Schrock and her husband Jacob of Sarasota, FL, Mattie Miller of Arthur, IL, Elizabeth Diener and her husband Joe of Humboldt, IL, Verna Bontrager of Sarasota, FL, Mary Chupp and her husband Lewis of Tuscola, IL, Clara Herschberger and her husband Nelson of Arcola , IL, Katie Helmuth and her husband Glenn of Flora,WI and Lorene Herschberger and her husband Oba of Sullivan, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Lorene Herschberger, three sisters, Ida Otto, Edna Miller and Anna Mae Bontrager and two brothers, Levi Bontrager and Eli Bontrager.
