CLARA E. DARE, 79, of Charleston, IL passed way at 4:10 P.M. Sunday, August 9, 2009 at her residence.
A private celebration of her life was held on August 29, 2009. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted Clara’s family with arrangements.
Clara was born December 7, 1929 in Mattoon, IL. She was the daughter of William Francis and Virgie Myrle (Roark) Cowger.
Clara’s greatest achievement of her life was being the beloved mother of nine children and having her six daughters as her very own cheering section.
Surviving is her husband of sixty two years, James L. Dare Sr; her children, Ted L. Dare and his wife Peggy of Walnut Grove, MO, James L. Dare J. and his wife Chloe Ann of Mattoon, IL, Laura Kelley of Charleston, IL, Cheryl Butler and her husband Steve of Waverly, IA, Donna Webb and her friend Robert of Kingman, AZ, Roy E. Dare and his wife Linda of Charleston, IL, Peggy E. Skinlo and her husband William of Charleston, IL, Teresa Dundee and her husband Mike of Charleston, IL, Julie Southworth of Charleston, IL; twenty eight grandchildren; thirty four great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; one sister Vivian Miller of Charleston, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Chester, Ernie and Bill Cowger; one ½ brother Bob Mobbs; two sisters Shirley and Mary and one son-in-law Jack Kelley.
A special thanks to the Hospice nurses and CNA’s and Kelli Blagg for their loving care through our mother’s illness.
