CLIFFORD EDWARD “ED” STANLEY, 67 Of Arcola, IL passed away at 1:50 A.M. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the funeral home.

Ed was born on January 24, 1942 in Jasper County, IL. He was a son of Clifford C. and Dansel F. (Galloway) Stanley. He married Kathy Jo Trick on March 12, 1977 in Arcola, IL

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Stanley of Arcola, IL; six children, Kathy Coughlin and her husband Kelly of Iuka, IL, James Stanley and his wife LaTonya of Chrisman, IL, Lora Stuck and her husband Brad of Olney, IL, Troy Stanley and his wife Jessica of Ada, Ohio, Matthew Stanley and his special friend Shannon Dyer of Woodridge, IL and Keith Stanley and his wife Catrina of Arcola, IL; twelve grandchildren, Kiley and Kara Coughlin, Andrew and Courtney Stanley, Jacob, Dalton, Kristen and Kirkland Hoult, Tyler, Peyton and Rylee Stuck, Wyatt Stanley and baby brother coming in July. He is also survived by one brother, Ronald Stanley and his wife Frankie of Columbia, IL and five sisters, Lois Henderson and her husband Bill of Pierson, IL, Yvonne Corbit and her husband Mark of Sandy, Utah, Inez Phipps and her husband Don of Altamont, IL, Margaret Newberry and her husband Gene of Lovington, IL and Tina Evans and her husband Mike of Yale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Gene and Nelson Stanley.

Ed was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons of Mattoon, IL in 2004 with thirty-six and a half years of service.

Ed was a family man and adored children. He was a garage tinkerer, bird watcher, animal feeder and avid gardener. He never knew a stranger, loved helping anyone with anything and was a storyteller extraordinaire.
