CORA HERSCHBERGER, 88, of Humboldt, IL passed away at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Fannie Miller and her husband, Marvin in rural Shelbyville, IL.
Cora was born December 29, 1919 in Arthur, IL. She was a daughter of Samuel and Fannie (Miller) Kauffman. She married Menno J. Herschberger on October 16, 1941 in rural Arthur, IL. He passed away January 10, 2008.
She is survived by; six children, Fannie Miller and her husband Marvin of Shelbyville, IL, Raymond Herschberger and his wife Pat of Belvidere, IL, Dorothy Nichols and her husband Charles of Mattoon, IL, Larry Herschberger and his wife Pat of Syracuse, IN, Virgil Herschberger and his wife Brenda of Hillsboro, TN and Betty Dodson of Sullivan, IL; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 6 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-great grandchildren; three brothers Levi Kauffman and his wife Mary of Arthur, IL , Raymond Kauffman and his wife Mary of Phoenix, AZ and Edward Kauffman and his wife Anna of Shipshewana, IN; two sisters, Ella Kauffman and Carrie Kauffman both of Decatur, IL.
Her parents, her stepmother, Susie Kauffman; three brothers, Fred Kauffman, Ervin Kauffman and Albert Kauffman and one sister, Tillie Herschberger preceded her in death.
Cora was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church. She spent several years chauffeuring people in the Arthur area. She enjoyed quilting and won several blue ribbons for her quilts. She was also quite a baker and made the best cinnamon rolls around. Cora was a devoted farmwife and mother.
