Biography

DAN WILSON GOOD, 82, of Arcola, IL passed away at 8:25 A.M., Friday, October 5, 2012 at Palm Terrace Nursing Home in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Dick Miller will officiate. Burial with military rites conducted by the Arcola VFW will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.

Dan was born on April 8, 1930 in Red Boiling Springs, TN. He was a son of John and Eller (Brandon) Good. He married Mary Shaw on November 11, 1949 in Tuscola, IL. She passed away on March 9, 2012.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Good and his wife Brenda of Champaign, IL and Jim Good of Oakland, IL; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, a daughter-in-law, Carrie Good, two brothers, Clyde and Earl Good, and three sisters, Marie Armor, Edith Thornhill-Gale and Geraldine Harris.

Dan was a member of the Kemp Church of Christ.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was a sheet metal worker having worked for R.H. Bishop which later became Airflex of Champaign, IL where he served as a shop superintendent for several years. Dan also operated Dan Good and Sons Custom Specialist, fabricating many parts and machines.

Dan enjoyed music, writing gospel songs and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed gardening, raising roses, coon hunting and spending time with family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Schultz-Lewis Children’s Home.
