DAN NIXON, 83, of Mesa, AZ formerly of Hindsboro, IL passed away at 11:20 A.M. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, AZ.
Dan was born on October 24, 1928 in Red Boiling Springs, TN. He was a son of Birt and Matilda (Parkhurst) Nixon. He married Charlotte Irene Little on August 14, 1947 in Hindsboro, IL. She passed away in 1995. He later married Margaret Priest Wilhelm on May 10, 2003 in Camargo, IL.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Nixon of Mesa, AZ; one son Michael Nixon and his wife Linda of Sharpsburg, GA and one daughter Patricia McCullough and her husband Philip of Woodstock, IL; step-children Rhonda (Terry) Odle of Queen Creek AZ and Ron (Kim) Wilhelm of Mesa, AZ; three granddaughters, Karen McCullough of Woodstock, IL, Kristen McCullough of Chicago, IL, and Katherine McCullough of New York, NY; three step-granddaughters, Stephanie (Cole) Chumbley of Mattoon, IL, Amber Wilhelm of Fremont, CA, and Shannon (Shawn) Behnken of Menlo, IA; and one step-great-granddaughter, Isabella Behnken. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Wilma Sylvester of Arcola, IL and Dorothy Foster of Decatur, IL.
Dan always enjoyed gardening and sharing what he harvested with family and friends. He and his first wife Charlotte were partners in numerous family businesses over the years. He loved reminiscing about his time spent driving cross-country in support of their long-haul trucking business. Margaret and Dan moved to Mesa in 2010 to enjoy the Arizona sunshine.
