Deborah Davis, 79 of Tuscola, IL passed away at 1:11 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Zylstra will officiate.
Debbie was born on February16, 1943 in Bloomington, IL. She was a daughter of Pastor Charles Nelson “Nash” and Mary Elizabeth (Grimes) Johnson.
She is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Davis) Nasser and his wife Lesa Dale-Nasser of Mt. Pleasant, WI, Andy Davis of Newcastle, OK, and Leslie Harris and her husband Kevin of Tuscola, IL, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three siblings, Rev. Charles Michael Johnson and his wife Glenna of Lafayette, IN, Abby Dowling and her husband Jack of Effingham, IL and David M. Johnson of Tuscola, IL, and a sister-in-law, Christine Johnson of Tuscola, IL and several amazing nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Timothy G. Johnson.
Debbie was a member of the First Christian Church of Villa Grove. She had attended the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL and the First Christian Church of Tuscola, IL.
Debbie had worked as a Senior Policy Processor for Attorneys’ Title Guarantee Fund in Champaign, IL for many years. After retiring she served as a teacher’s aide at North Ward Elementary and East Prairie Middle School in Tuscola. She later worked at the Tuscola Public Library.
Debbie loved horse racing and everything about it. She was always on “Cloud-Nine” when her favorite jockey, Calvin Borel would stop for a photo and an autograph. She attended many horse races in Louisville and Lexington, KY, touring stables, placing bets, and on occasion even winning! Ironically, her memorial service falls on Kentucky Derby Day.
Debbie was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. She was an avid coffee drinker. She was a big fan of Luciano Pavarotti and was always the “go to” person for any help with just about any college course that her children or grandchildren took. She was an amazing daughter, sibling, friend, and she was indeed a great mom! She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Cookson Hills Christian School in Kansas, OK or the WILL Public TV.
