Diane Dae Warner of Champaign, formerly of Hinsdale, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Church St., Champaign. Rev. Terry Harter and Rev. Mary Brady will officiate.

Diane was born February 20, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of Hampton and Laurene Golson, Sr. She married Graeme Warner on August 12, 1967 in Glen Ellyn. He survives.

Also surviving are her two daughers, Paige (Nathan) Roberts of Arcola and Tracy (Mason) Wehrle of Toluca; one brother Hampton Golson, Jr. of Winthrop Harbor; and three grandsons.

Diane majored in education at Purdue University and taught fifth grade in the Glen Ellyn school system until the birth of her daughter Paige. Throughout her life, Diane was active in many civic and church-related organizations and gave thousands of hours to volunteer efforts. She held leadership positions in the Elm School PTO, Girl Scouts, Hinsdale Junior Women’s Club, Katherine Legge Memorial Auxillary, Hinsdale Village Caucus, Ben Fuller Museum Association, Hinsdale United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, and the Committee of One Hundred.

After living in the Chicago suburbs together for over 35 years, Diane and Graeme retired to Champaign to be closer to their grandchildren. In Champaign, Diane had been active in the Champaign-Urbana Community Women’s Club, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, First United Methodist Church of Champaign, the United Methodist Women, and the Ironwood Homeowner’s Association.
