Doris A. Knaus

Doris A. Knaus, 81, of North Port, FL formerly of Arcola, IL passed away at 4:05 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Inglenook House in Englewood, FL. 

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 in the Arcola Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Doris was born on September 1, 1943 in Neoga, IL. She was a daughter of John and Dorothy (Peters) Young. She married Terry Lee Knaus on October 8, 1971 in Neoga, IL. He passed away on May 12, 2018.

She is survived by one brother-in-law, Paul Knaus of Mattoon, IL, one nephew and one niece. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Joyce Cazel, and a sister-in-law, Lynn Knaus.

Doris graduated from Neoga High School in 1961. She attended Utterback’s Business College in Mattoon, IL.

Doris worked in the office at USI in Tuscola, IL for over 30 years. In 1985 Doris bought the Emporium, located in downtown Arcola, IL. From within the Emporium, she operated Cooks Collection, Marcella’s and Galton Glass Works.

Doris enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Terry and meeting new friends.
