Doris Stern

DORIS MARIE STERN, 84 of Cuba, MO formerly of Arcola, IL passed away at 8:40 A.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Frene Valley Health Care in Owensville, MO.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Arcola Cemetery.   Rev. Brent Budd will officiate.   The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Doris was born on October 7, 1932 in Charleston, IL.   She was a daughter of James Lewis and Asenith Louise (Knight) Titus.   She married Morris William Stern on July 20, 1957 in Charleston, IL.

She is survived by her husband Morris Stern of Cuba, MO; one son  Michael Thornton and his wife Margie of Owensville, MO; two granddaughters, Alicia  Mirabelli and her husband Mike of Singapore and Melanie Thornton of Aurora Illinois and three great-grandchildren Tyler, Mikey and Ella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Dorothy May Bennett Adkins Titus, two sisters, one of whom was an infant, Charlotte Titus and Dorothy Eveline Veach and a step brother, Ronald Adkins.

Doris was a member of the First Christian Church of Arcola, IL.

She had worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown and the Brown Shoe Factory.
