DOROTHY HUTCHCRAFT, 93, of Arthur, IL passed away at 4:53 A.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Arthur Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Vine Street Christian Church, 249 South Vine Street in Arthur, IL. Rev. Dawn Ingram will officiate. Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the Church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Dorothy was born on October 1, 1920 in Williamsburg, IL. She was a daughter of Lonnie T. and Ola Belle (Deckard) Davis. She married Don Ernest Hutchcraft on July 22, 1939 in Arthur, IL he passed away on June 20, 1991.
She is survived by three children, Dale Hutchcraft and his wife Grace of Arthur, IL, Donna Edwards of Humboldt, IL and Deanna Dallas of Arthur, IL; seven grandchildren, Edward Edwards and his wife Wendy of Humboldt, IL, Dora Miller and her husband Charles of Mattoon, IL, Jeff Hutchcraft and his wife Janice of Atwood, IL, David Dallas and his wife Rita of Clinton, IL, Jamie Daugherty and her husband Josh of Atwood, IL Jim Hutchcraft of Bement, IL and Don Dallas of Salem, IL; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Flossie Stevens of Arthur, IL and a “Special Daughter” Naomi Sue Otto of Arthur, IL.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, one son, Robert Eugene Hutchcraft, three brothers, Mitchell, Jesse and Carl Davis and two sons-in-law, Roy Dallas and Robert Edwards.
Dorothy was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL.
Dorothy worked at the Arthur IGA for over 34 years.
Dorothy graduated from Arthur High School in 1939, when in the eighth grad she co-authored the class song with William Fleming.
She enjoyed square dancing every Saturday Night back in the day.
Dorothy has written many songs, she used to play her guitar and sing to her three children before they went to bed.
She loved animals and enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the birds and squirrels.
She also enjoyed reading and crocheting and has made a lot of things for her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Vine Street Christian Church or the Arthur Home.
