EDITH E. BRYANT, 94, of Arcola, IL passed away at 1:31 P.M. Friday, August 1, 2008 at her son’s residence.

Edith was born on January 22, 1914 in Arcola, IL. She was a daughter of Joseph M. and Grace L. (Roberts) Logan. She married Raymond Lloyd Bryant on January 22, 1946 in Arthur, IL. He passed away on March 7, 1979.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Lloyd “Bud” Bryant and his wife Dana of Arcola, IL; one daughter, Elaine Bryant of Tuscola, IL; three grandchildren, Nickie Edwards and her husband Scott of Arcola, IL, Amanda Bryant of Arcola, IL and Philip Bryant and his friend Heather of Tuscola, IL; five great grandchildren, Taylor, Samantha, Joshua, Matthew and Makenzie Bryant and baby Emma due to be born in October; two brothers, Clyde Logan and his wife Helen of Arcola, IL and Charles Logan Monticello, IL and two sister-in-laws, Lee Logan of Shelbyville and Barbara Honn and her husband James of Arcola, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Roy and Earl Logan; two sisters, Helen Wampler and Ethel Flood; one grandson Ronald Lloyd Bryant Jr. and a great-grandson, Jacob Bryant.

Edith graduated from Arthur High School in 1932. She played the clarinet in the High School Marching Band and had the privilege to play in a concert directed by John Phillip Sousa. She was a beauty operator in Arthur until she married Lloyd. They made their home in Arcola where they operated a truck garden patch from their home; they raised plants and sold produce. From 1955 until 1973, they owned and operated the A&W Root Beer Stand in Arcola while Lloyd ran a bread route. They also raised pheasants, quail, peafowl and numerous other animals.

Edith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Home Extension, Senior Citizens and the Arcola VFW Auxiliary.

Edith enjoyed many things throughout her life, but family and her classmates were always most important to her.
