EDITH DOEMELT, 90, of Arcola, IL passed away at 11:13 A.M. Sunday, December 30, 2007 at her residence in Arcola, IL.
Edith was born September 22, 1917 in Washington County, Missouri. She was a daughter of A.O. "Bud" and Annie (Witt) Northcutt. She married Alvin Victor Doemelt June 19, 1933 in Steelville, MO. He passed away April 8, 1988.
Survivors include three sons, Harold E. Doemelt of Union, MO, Kenneth Alvin Doemelt and his wife Peggy of Glendale, AZ and G.L. Doemelt of Arcola, IL; one daughter, Mary Ann Davis of Valdosta, GA; four grandchildren, Kirk Davis and his wife Helen of Valdosta, GA, Clay Doemelt of Arcola, IL, Liberty Doemelt of Windsor, IL and Zachary Doemelt of Arcola, IL and two great-grandchildren, Simon Davis and Devin Doemelt; six sisters, Ruth Hulsey of Sullivan, Mo, Lucille Brizedine of Crown Point, IN, Mildred Harms and her husband Aaron of Union, MO, Gertrude Shanks and her husband Glen of St. Louis, MO, Minnie Heitkamp of St. Clair, MO and Peggy Schatz and her husband Ray of Sullivan, MO and two brothers, A.O. Northcutt Jr. and his wife Margie of Sullivan, MO and Calvin Northcutt also of Sullivan, MO.
Her parents, her husband, one sister, Elsie Manion and one son-in-law, Edward C. Davis preceded her in death.
Edith first worked at the P.K. Weil Company in St. Louis, MO were they made parachutes. Her first job when she moved to Arcola was at the Candy Kitchen working for Benny and Laura Bushu. She worked there until Benny passed away. She then worked at the Arcola Grade School in the Trainable Mentally Handicapped Program and for the Head Start Program. Edith also worked as a cashier for Don Edwards at Ray and Kay in Arcola. She retired from there in 1981.
Edith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcola. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family.
