Ella Artis

ELLA MAE ARTIS, 85, of Arthur, IL passed away at 10:45 A.M. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Rev. Rick Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery.

Ella Mae was born on June 6, 1925 in Moultrie County, IL. She was a daughter of Ezra and Marie (Elder) Selby. She married Horace Eugene Artis on May 5, 1948 in Sullivan, IL. He passed away on September 3, 1981.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Artis and his wife Deborah of Flora, IL and Dwight Artis and his wife Dena of Deland, IL, 7 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband and one son, Darrell E. Artis, one grandson, Jeff Artis, and one brother, Duane Selby.

Ella Mae was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She served the Arthur School systems as a secretary for 25 years; starting in the grade school, then in the high school and retiring as unit secretary.

Ella Mae enjoyed crocheting, reading, working crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
