Ernest Bontrager

Ernest R. Bontrager, 66, of Arthur, IL, passed away in Sarasota, FL, early Saturday morning, August 18, 2018.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Pleasant View Church, 155 N CR 300E, in rural Arcola, IL.  Rev. Matthew Bontrager will officiate.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the church.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Ernest was born on December 29, 1951 in Tuscola, IL.  He was a son of Raymond C. and Ella A. (Miller) Bontrager.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Ray and Ella Bontrager of Arthur, IL; son, Michael Eric Bontrager and his wife Karmen of Arthur, IL; grandson, Kayden Lee Bontrager; Former wife, Sarah Ann Miller of Sarasota, FL; brother, Kenneth Bontrager and his wife Goldie of Sullivan, IL; sisters, Marie Kuhns and her husband Dannie of Arthur, IL, Ruth Kuhns and her husband Gary of Tuscola, IL and Judy Herschberger and her husband Darrell of Tuscola, IL; and a sister-in-law, Esther Bontrager of Sullivan, IL.

He was preceded in death by his son Marcus Ryan Bontrager and a brother Willis Bontrager.

Ernest loved spending time with his grandson and documenting many events on video to share on YouTube.  He had uploaded over 1000 videos which received over ten million views.
