Evelyn Crist

EVELYN CRIST, 68, of Arcola, IL passed away at 7:15 A.M. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Dale Tomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until service time.

Evelyn was born on March 22, 1941 in Arcola, IL. She was a daughter of Carl Franklin and Freda Eileen (Davis) VanDeveer. She married Donald Crist on May 11, 1961 in Tuscola, IL.

Survivors include her husband Don Crist of Arcola, IL; five children, Donna DeVries of Grant, MI, Joan Scharenbroch and her husband Russel of Grant, MI; Ricky Crist Sr. and his girlfriend Michelle of Garrett, IL, Brenda Kelley and her husband Rick of Decatur, IL and Melissa Walker and her husband Linnie of Cooks Mills, IL twenty four grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dave VanDeveer and his wife Peggy of Arcola, IL and Carl “Nunnie” VanDeveer and his wife Sandy of Arcola, IL and three sisters, Rita Headrick and her husband Joe of Arcola, IL and Sue Romine and her husband Tom of Arcola, IL and Edrie Knight of Robinson, IL and a sister-in-law, Jan VanDeveer of Mattoon, IL

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mary Ann Dewitt, one brother Don VanDeveer and one sister Clara Hutton.

Evelyn was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Arcola, IL.

She enjoyed puzzles, reading the National Enquire, going to garage sales and spending time with her family. She was known as Aunt Ebbie to most of her nieces and nephews and MiMi to grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
