Evelyn Riggs

EVELYN L. RIGGS, 83, of Arthur, IL passed away at 1:27 A.M. on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Mason Point in Sullivan, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL.  Pastor Bob Silvanik will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the church.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Evelyn was born on December 21, 1934 in Moultrie County, IL.  She was a daughter of Ora Lucille Riggs.

She is survived by one sister, Freda R. Black of Atwood, IL, one brother, Roy E. Williamson of Humboldt, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond E. and Ora Lucille (Riggs) Williamson, one brother, Eddie Joe Williamson and one brother-in-law, Harry O. Black.

Evelyn graduated from Arthur High School in 1952 and then she took business classes in Mattoon, IL.  She worked in the insurance industry for several years.   After retiring she volunteered for Lincolnland Hospice

She was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL where she had taught Sunday school.   She enjoyed baking for others, she loved children and did a lot of babysitting and caring for people.

Memorials may be made to the Vine Street Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
