Florence Smith

FLORENCE ELIZABETH SMITH, 97, of Cooks Mills, IL, passed away at 12:05 P.M. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Edwards Funeral Home 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, rural Cooks Mills, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the funeral home.

Florence was born June 22, 1913 in Edgewood, IL. She was a daughter of Dow and Katherine (Kortte) Bartimus. She married Vernon Eugene Smith November 17, 1934, he passed away July 16, 2001.

Survivors include her daughter in-law Karla Smith of Cooks Mills, IL; son in-law Donald Towle of Oakland, IL; four grandchildren Stacey Bunyard of Cooks Mills, IL, Tami Jennings of Mattoon, IL, Todd Smith and his wife Heather of Lerna, IL and Doug Towle of Mattoon, IL and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; her husband, 4 children Peggy Smith, Anthony Lee Smith, Marjorie Towle and Randall Smith and 9 siblings Ruby Fallart, Myrtle Walker, Isabella Harker, Grace Bartimus, Andrew Bartimus, William Bartimus, George Bartimus and a set of twins that passed away at birth Agnus Jospehine and Ruth Katherine Bartimus.

Florence was a homemaker. She was a member of the Green Creek Catholic Church.

Florence enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and watching her grandchildren.
