Frances Goad

Frances E. Goad, 83, of Arcola, IL passed away at 2:40 P.M. on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St. in Arcola, IL.  Rev. Rodney Houser will officiate.  Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Frances was born on April 29, 1938 in Tuscola, IL.  She was a daughter of Ernest and Lora (Clough) Crist.  She married Ebert Goens in January of 1955.  She later married Elvin Goad in September 1975 in Sullivan, IL.  He passed away in July 2020.

She is survived by one son: Gary Goens (Melody Collins) of Lake City, FL; four daughters: Sharon White and her husband Willie of Greenup, IL, Debbie Renfro and her husband Skip of Lovington, IL, Patty Shupe of Charleston, IL and Ann Lytle of Whittington, IL; two stepdaughters: Eugena Patterson and her husband Todd of Newton, IL and Caroline Davis and her husband Sam of Olney; several grandchildren that she loved dearly and a sister-in-law, Janet Crist of Atwood, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son: Chuck Goens; one brother: Glen Crist; one sister: Lois Good.

Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcola, IL.

She worked at the Mattoon Garment Factory and retired from Schrock Cabinet factory in Arthur, IL.  She operated  Fran's Alterations from her home for several years and she and her husband ran a produce stand.

Frances enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with her family.
