Fred Otto

FRED J. OTTO 75, of Humboldt, IL passed away at 4:23 P.M. on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the William Otto residence, 326 East County Road 100 North, rural Arcola, IL. Bishop Daniel Chupp will officiate. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery. Visitation will be any time prior to the funeral at William Otto’s residence.

Fred was born on January 27, 1933 in Douglas County, IL. He was a son of Jerry S. and Elizabeth N. (Mast) Otto. He married Martha Elizabeth Miller on December 4, 1952 in Arthur, IL.

Survivors include his wife Martha Otto of Humboldt, IL; seven children, Betty Miller and her husband Howard of Arthur, IL, Nancy Miller and her husband Ervin of Arcola, IL, Omer Otto and his wife Lorene of Humboldt, IL, Celesta Yoder and her husband Robert of Arthur, IL, William Otto and his wife Kathryn of Arcola, IL, Willis Otto and his wife Dorothy of Humboldt, IL and Jerry Otto and his wife Sarah of Arthur, IL; thirty-seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Freeman Otto and his wife Mary of Kokomo, IN Simon Otto and his wife Edna of Kokomo, IN and Jerry Otto Jr. of Arcola, IL; one sister, Verna Chupp and her husband Melvin of Arcola, IL; four sister-in-laws, Martha Otto of Humboldt, IL, Mattie and Mary Otto both of Kokomo, IN and Ida (Otto) Helmuth of Arthur, IL.

His parents, one stillborn daughter, Barbara Otto, one grandson, Earl Otto, one great granddaughter, Cynthia Yoder, four brothers, and two sister-in-laws preceded him in death.

Fred was a retired farmer

He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
