GENE DAILY, 68, of Lintner, IL went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:00 A.M. on September 5, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
Gene was born January 26, 1944 in Arcola, Illinois. He was a son of Robert Lee and Mary Daily.
He married Shirley Adams on March 7, 1981 in Lake City, IL.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Daily of 31 years; three daughters, Tracie & Joey Davis of Walker, LA, Lisa & Gary Hopkins of Oakley, IL and Julie & Allen Brown of Springfield, IL; three sons, Stephen & Shelley Daily of Latham, IL, Michael & Karie Daily of Decatur, IL and Mark & Melinda Quinlan of Lintner, IL. He is also a proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his mother Mary Daily of Lintner, two sisters Dorothy Schrock of Farmer City, IL and Mary Hite of LaPlace, IL and many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Daily and his mother & father in law Bessie Adams Everman & Charles Adams.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tuscola, IL. Burial with military rites will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Illiopolis, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church in Tuscola, IL. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Gene was a Viet Nam Veteran who proudly served his Country from 1966 to 1968. He was in the 9th Infantry Division, Co. B 15th Combat Engineer. He came home as an E-5, Hard 5 Sergeant, Held E-6 and was a platoon leader.
After he came home from the war he began his career as a carpenter. Later in his career he started his own business, Daily Enterprise that he founded in 1990. He was also jack of all trades, from drawing to crafting anything from doll houses to remote control boats. He enjoyed fishing, painting, boating, and remodeling boats of all sizes.
He was a hard worker, always providing for his family and anyone who needed a hand. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by the members of the church, family and friends.
