GENEVA KEARNS, 94, of Arcola, IL passed away at 8:16 A.M. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Tuscola Health Care Center.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Arcola Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Geneva was born on January 16, 1919 in Tompkinsville, KY. She was a daughter of Virgil and Eulah (England) Woods. She married Merle Kearns on June 22, 1942 in Tacoma, WA. He passed away on June 20, 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn McCoy of Arcola, IL, Carolyn Kleiss of Tuscola, IL and Mary Thompson and her husband Jack of Camargo, IL; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Woods and his wife Imogene of Clarke, MO and a brother-in-law Albert Kearns and his wife Joanne of Arcola, IL
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons-in-law, five brothers, and four sisters.
During World War II Geneva worked at a factory in Chicago and later rode the train to Washington where Merle was stationed. They were married there and she worked in an air plane factory.
Geneva worked at the Mattoon Garment Factory for several years. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Tompkinsville, KY
