GEORGE ANDREW NASH, 71, of Kansas, IL passed away at 5:45 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Oakland Christian Church in Oakland, IL. Rev. Jim Nash will officiate. The Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL is assisting with arrangements.
George was born on April 13, 1940 in Charleston, IL. He was a son of George Woodrow and Rosetta Mae (Livingston) Nash. He married Bobbie Woner on October 1, 1989 in Houston, TX.
He is survived by his wife Bobbie Nash of Kansas, IL; three children, Tammie Morris and her husband Bob of Edinburg, IL, Baneta Houk of Tovey, IL and Andy Nash of Virden, one step-daughter, Dani Wade and her husband Mark of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren; Jacob Nash, Rick Reed, Lani Reed, Melissa Strockbine, Adam Lockwood, Todd Lockwood, Dylan Houk and Austin Houk; two step grandchildren, Shelby and Haylee Wade; his mother, Rose Veach of Strasburg, IL and two brothers, Jim Nash and his wife Shirley of Mt. Zion, IL and Bill Nash of Yale, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, and two sisters, Sue Lewis and Fran Shirley.
George was a Marine Veteran.
He is a retired welder.
He devoted most of his time serving as a sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous and he has been sober for over thirty-six years.
He and his wife had operated Covered Wagon Antiques and Rummage for several years.
He enjoyed reading western novels, buying, selling and trading and spending time with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
