Georgia Walton

GEORGIA M. WALTON 91, of Effingham, IL formerly of Arcola, Chicago and Bolingbrook, IL passed away at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Georgia was born on April 17, 1916 in Coles County. She was a daughter of George and Dora (Halsey) Walton.

Survivors include two nephews, Andrew Walton and his wife Gail of Wheaton, IL and Dr. Samuel Walton and his wife Connie of Effingham, IL and two nieces, Rose Gill and her husband Ron of Valparaiso, IN and Kris Hall and her husband Bill of Charleston, IL; twelve great nieces and nephews and ten great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eldred, Berkey, and John, and one sister Chloa.

Georgia grew up in Coles and Edgar counties and graduated from Arcola High School. She attended Millikin University and graduated from Northwestern University and the University of Illinois. She began her teaching career in Mt. Zion and also taught in Morris, IL and at Saus Elementary School in Suburban Cook County.
