Harold Cummins

V. HAROLD CUMMINS, 75, of Arcola, IL passed away at 7:25 P.M. on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Arcola Health Care Center, surrounded by family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Harold Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M on Friday, September 4, 2009 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials may be made to the Arcola First Christian Church.

Harold was born June 23, 1934 in Jasper County, IL. He was a son of Virgil and Vera Cummins. He married Mary Lou Rodmaker on January 13, 2000 in Arcola, IL.

Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1962.

Harold owned and operated Napa Auto Parts of Arcola, IL for over 30 years.

Harold’s joys were his grandkids, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, four wheeling, and golfing.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Arcola, IL where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Arcola Lions Club, Kaskaskia Country Club, and the Mattoon Moose Club. He served as an Arcola Township Trustee for 16 years and as an Arcola Township Supervisor for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Cummins of Arcola, IL; two sons, Brian Cummins of Arcola, IL and Gregg Cummins and his wife Loree of Robinson, IL; one step son Kim Wingler and his wife Mindy of Hillard, OH; five grandchildren, Amber Henrichs of Chatsworth, IL, BJ Cummins of Sullivan, IL, Miranda Cummins of Arcola, IL, Michael Cummins and Hunter Cummins both of Robinson, IL; two step-granddaughters, Stacey Wingler and Aly Wingler both of Hillard, OH; two great-grandsons, Austin and Ethan both of Chatsworth, IL; two brothers, Kenneth Cummins and his wife Linda and Paul Cummins and his wife Patty all of Newton, IL and two sisters, Virginia Applegate and her husband Nolan of Willow Hill, IL and Barbara Cummins of Newton, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Carol Ann Davidson.
