Helen Sanders

Helen Cecelia (Goodwin) Sanders, 79, of Oakley, Illinois, formerly of Oakland, Illinois, passed away at 6:39 pm Friday, August 30, 2019 at her home in Oakley.

Per Helen’s wishes, no services will be held. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Helen was born on March 11, 1940 in Saratoga, NY. She was the daughter of Harold S. and Helen F. (Cossey) Goodwin. She married Donald L Sanders Sr on May 3, 1958 in Glens Falls, NY.

She is survived by her 3 children, Debra Taylor (James) of Oakley, IL., Donald L Sanders (Carolyn) of Cheyenne, WY., Stephon Sanders Lehnertz (Bruce) of Des Moines, IA: Nine grandchildren; eighteen great- grandchildren; one brother Harold Goodwin (Kathy) of Queensbury, NY. And three sisters, Dale DeMartino of Ballston Spa, NY, Lelia Gordon (Bernard) of Queensbury, NY, Celia Monsour (Joe) of Glens Falls, NY and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Helen was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, three brothers, Richard Goodwin, Frank Goodwin, John Goodwin and three sisters, Joyce Winchell, Patty Goodwin and Edna Rivers.

Helen was a homemaker and retired from Friendship Retirement Home in Hammond, IL. Helen enjoyed being with her family and friends.
