Irene Mann

IRENE L. (MOSSER) MANN, 80, of Hammond, IL passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 12:45 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL and will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 53 years.


Irene was born on October 14, 1929 in Hammond, IL. She was a daughter of Oscar and Mable (Lines) Mosser. She married James Oscar Mann on October 19, 1946 in Bement, IL. He passed away on August 24, 1999.

She is survived by four sons, James D. Mann and his wife Pamela of Bement, IL, Paul Mann and his wife Joan of Hammond, IL, Joe Mann and his wife Nancy of Decatur, IL and Dennis Mann of Hammond, IL; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband three sons, Francis, Mike and George Raymond Mann; three grandchildren, Brandi Mann, Jacob Matthew Mann and Dallas Mann, one brother John Mosser and one sister Betty Reede.

Irene was a loyal Herald and Review newspaper carrier for over 30 years. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Southern Baptist Church in Arthur, IL. Rev. Mitch Flesch will officiate. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the services at the church. At the family’s request, casual attire is acceptable. Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
