Iris Edgar

IRIS LUCILLE EDGAR, 81, of Arcola, IL passed away at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 surrounded by her family at Arcola Health Care.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Vince Rohn. Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the funeral home.

Iris was born June 10, 1930 in Decatur, Illinois. She was a daughter of Walter S. Rinehart and Bessie F. (Troxell) Rinehart. Iris married Max Edgar on April 14, 1951.

She is survived by four children; Stephen A. Edgar, of Arcola, Mark A. Edgar, of Decatur, Kathy E. Bickel, of Arcola, Susan M. Moore and her husband Richard, of Mahomet; six grandchildren; Calen Edgar and Kyle Edgar, Jason Bickel and Katy Whisman and her husband Travis, Margo McLane and Morgan McLane; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Bickel and Brevyn Whisman, and a sister-in-law, Faye Rinehart of Ashville, Ohio.

Her parents, her husband, two brothers, Charles and Ralph Rinehart and one sister, Alice Leisner preceded her in death.

Iris was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church. She was a teacher at Arcola Elementary for 23 years. Although she loved teaching, her true passion was her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to Alzheimer’s Association.
