Jack Sylvester

EARL WAYNE “JACK” SYLVESTER, 86 of Elsinore, MO passed away at 6:15 A.M. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at River Ways Nursing Home in Van Buren, MO.

Graveside funeral services with military rites conducted by the Arcola American Legion and the Arcola VFW will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Arcola Cemetery.   The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Jack was born on June 25, 1930 in Arcola, IL.   He was a son of Robert Howard and Opal (Parker) Sylvester.   He married Harriett Stutes on June 27, 1950 in San Diego, CA

He is survived by his wife, Harriett of Elsinore, MO; one daughter, Sharon Sylvester of Ellsinore, MO; three grandsons, John William Simon and his wife Cara of Mendon, IL, Joseph Wayne Simon of Santa Fe, NM and Joshua Wade Simon of Thornton, CO; one great-grandson, Noah Jacob Simon of Thornton, CO; his twin brother, Gene Sylvester and his wife Helen of Arcola, IL and one sister Mildred Hurtt of Rochester, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Ruth Collins, Betty Thompson, Louise Sylvester and Evelyn Gamble.

Jack was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Machinist.   Being a Machinist was his life long career.

He was a member of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge 375 A.F. and A.M.

Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
