JAIME B. GARZA, 91 of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:55 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Charleston, IL surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main, in Arcola, IL. Pastor Waldemar Perez-Lopez will officiate. Burial will be in the Del Robles Cemetery in Monterrey, NL Mexico. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Jaime was born in Cadereyta, NL Mexico on June 9, 1933, a son of Raymundo and Araceli (Benavides) Garza. He married Isabel Cabrera August 11, 1955 in Cadereyta, NL Mexico. She passed away on October 12, 2020.
Jaime is survived by eight children, Gloria Alicia Galindo of Chihuahua, MX, Federico Garza and his wife Raquel of McAllen, TX, Juan Garza and his wife Mercedes of Navojoa, MX, Jaime Garza Jr. and his wife Rosetta of Shelbyville, IL, Raymundo Garza and his wife Mary of Arcola, IL, Rosario Barrientos and her husband Manuel of Charleston, IL, Herlinda Kauffman and her husband Troye of Arcola, IL, and Graciela Garza of Charleston, IL, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Guadalupe Garza of Monterrey, NL Mexico, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Isabel, one son, Martin Garza, one granddaughter, Lizeth, and seven siblings, Cesar, Socorro, Jose Maria, Angelica, Ernesto, Margarita, and Alberto.
Jaime was a founding member of the Spanish Church of the Nazarene.
He was one of the Original five men that came from Mexico to work at Libman’s in 1969. Jaime retired from the Libman Company in 1997.
Jamie enjoyed reading, watching old western movies, and poetry. He also enjoyed traveling, especially traveling to Mexico as much as he could. He often took to Mexico, clothes for resale and donation to those in need. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his large family.
Memorials may be made to the Spanish Church of the Nazarene.
