JAMES ARNOLD HARP, 88, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 11:54 P.M. Friday January 29, 2010 at Palm Terrace Nursing Home in Mattoon, IL.
A visitation was held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Edwards Funeral Home, in Arcola, IL. A graveside funeral was held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in the Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL.
James was born on August 14, 1921 in Moweaqua, IL. He was a son of Henry Ellis and Fannie (Boyd) Harp.
He is survived by one son Audie Harp and his wife Janice of Mattoon, IL; one daughter Georgia Taylor and her husband Eddie of Hampton, VA; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.
James was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a life member of the Mattoon VFW.
He was a construction worker and a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL.
He enjoyed fishing, old cars and he was a Chicago Cubs fan.
