JAMES MAX LYTLE, 81, of Arcola, IL, passed away at 12:29 P.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Max’s family welcomed friends and relatives at their home at, 214 South Walnut Street in Arcola, IL, anytime after Noon on Saturday, April 30, 2011. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Max was born on August 22, 1929 in Arcola, IL. He was a son of Harry Earl and Freda Philoma (Brown) Lytle. He married Nonna Marie Abercrombie on August 3, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL.
He is survived by his wife Nonna Lytle of Arcola, IL; three children, Carol Ingram and her husband, Duane of Arcola, IL, Toni Lytle of Mattoon, IL and James Glen “Bud” Lytle of Pinckneyville, IL; seven grandchildren, Dusty Ingram and his wife Jennifer of Arcola, IL, Jim Ingram of Chicago, IL and Andy Ingram of Arcola, IL, Amber Rardin and her fiancé Shane Hapuarachy of Los Angeles, CA, Brooks Rardin and his wife Alaina of Mattoon, IL, Ty Lytle of Mattoon, IL and Josh Lytle and his fiancé Huong Thu Thi Le of Arcola, IL and five great-grandchildren; Parker and Chloe Ingram, Max and Evan Rardin and Ty Lytle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harry Earl Lytle Jr. and five sisters, Mildred Dietz, Roberta DeGuire, Wanda Cloyd, Alma Lightle and Betty Williams.
Max was an Army veteran of the Korean War, having received the Purple Heart and a combat and infantry badge.
He retired from Trunkline Gas Co. of Tuscola, IL in 1980 with thirty years service.
Max enjoyed playing cards and marbles with his friends at the Arcola Senior Center. He was an avid Purple Rider fan, Chicago Bear fan and a St. Louis Cardinal fan.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department or the Arcola Lions Club.
