Jerry Partlow, 78, of Springfield, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in Springfield, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM (Noon) to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery.

Jerry was born on October 31, 1946 in Moline, IL. He was the son of Alvin and Leota Agnes (Ammons) Partlow. He married Margaret Ellen Tueth on October 3, 1970 in Springfield, IL. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Partlow of Springfield, IL, five children, Jeff Partlow of Springfield, IL, Mark Partlow of Springfield, IL, Matt Partlow and his wife Shannon of Chatham, IL, Jon Partlow of Springfield, IL and Jennifer Lipscomb of Springfield, IL, five grandchildren, Olivia Partlow, Emma and Eli Partlow, and Genevieve and Josephine Lipscomb, one sister-in-law, Ellie Meyer of Shorewood, IL, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, Bob Tueth and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tueth.

Jerry’s unwavering faith in God was a source of strength and comfort throughout his life.

Jerry excelled in both academics and athletics. He graduated from Arcola High School in 1964 and continued his education at Millikin University in Decatur from 1964 to 1966. He later transferred to Sangamon State University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Psychology. Additionally, he pursued PhD coursework in Psychology at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Jerry worked as a researcher at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield from 1972 to 1990, where he primarily performed biofeedback research. He then worked at the Illinois Department of Public Health from 1990 to 2001, when he retired. He continued to work for the Department on contract until 2006. He specialized in Geographic Information Systems for the Department. Jerry was a very intelligent and inquisitive man who loved his work. He enjoyed sharing his expertise and knowledge with others.

Jerry had a passion for life outside of work. He brightened everyone’s day with his smile and kind heart. He loved golfing and could often be found at Pasfield Golf Course and Lincoln Greens in Springfield. He enjoyed biking, swimming, and walking at Washington Park with Margaret. Jerry loved nature and took great pleasure in gardening. He also enjoyed taking photographs and playing the piano. A true sports fan, Jerry was a loyal follower of the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini.

Jerry was a wonderful son to his mother Leota and a devoted husband to Margaret. Jerry and Margaret were married 54 years. Since the day they met, they knew they were made for each other. Their lives were full of so much laughter, joy and love.

He was a devoted father; known for the love he had for spending time with his family. Some of His most cherished memories were attending their sporting events and school performances. His love and dedication to his family defined his life, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
