JOHN J. HOSTETLER, 85, of Arthur, IL passed away at 7:18 P.M. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 28, 2017 and any time after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Otto Center, one half mile south of Arthur, IL. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Otto Center. Bishop Ervin D. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in rural Arthur. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
John was born on March 3, 1932 in Middlefield, OH. He was a son of Joe M. and Mattie (Hochstedler) Hostetler. He married Emma Herschberger on November 13, 1952 in Arthur, IL. They lived in holy matrimony 64 years, 8 months and 14 days.
Survivors include his wife, Emma of Arthur, IL, two sons, Melvin Richard Hostetler and his wife Jo Ellen (Yoder), and Glen Dale Hostetler and his wife Laura Elizabeth (Yoder) all of Arthur, IL, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Andy Hostetler and his wife, Wilma (Stutzman), of Arthur, IL, Ervin Hostetler and his wife Mary (Yoder) of Arcola, IL and Lester Hostetler and his wife Delores (Otto) of Kokomo, IN, six sisters, Elizabeth Chupp of Arthur, IL, Edna Miller and her husband Eli L. of Amboy, IN, Katie Herschberger and her husband Edwin of Arthur, IL, Anna Mae Miller of Arthur, IL, Sarah Diener and her husband Marvin of Arthur, IL and Martha Otto and her husband Dan of Kokomo, IN and one sister-in-law, Fannie Hostetler of Milton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mattie Hostetler, one brother, Menno Hostetler, two brothers-in-law, Ervin Chupp and Marvin E. Miller, and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Hostetler and Elizabeth Hostetler.
John was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He was a retired farmer, and has worked in son’s woodworking shop for the past several years.
